Regarding the concept of Spinal Torque, I saw Nic's short video that explained this concept recently, and it's help me maintain: (1) a better side control; and (2) a better escape from half guard. Really important concept (possibly a good one for a new white belt?), and I'd be interested to see how it's applied to the bow and arrow. Would you mind taking a moment to show that in class?

Regarding class structure, I noticed that you've made some real changes to the way you teach lately. Incorporating the movement drills and encouraging repetition throughout the week has improved my game more quickly.

I asked 1 and 5.

In the response to the question about Spinal Torque, he focused on how the distortion of the spine plays a role in making the bow and arrow choke more effective.

Then on class structure, he likes to create lessons that support and reinforce a central objective. For example, let's say that the goal is to teach the elbow escape to mount. We know that if we separate the core movement out, it will be a shrimp. Then we can isolate out the concept of using the elbows against the knees to create space . So we'll have a concept and a movement that combine into a technique.

His ideal focused on isolating those pieces out, focusing on them, and then bringing them altogether into the technique. That is a structure that I have always wanted to create.

I would have liked to ask the rest but I'll use them in the future. Think there are a lot of interesting answers just waiting to be discovered.

I appreciate the way you broke down what you learned into bullet points. What questions did you end up asking and what were Nic's answers? Interested in the important white belt concept(s).
